Introduction

With the development of optical fiber technology, various new types of optical fibers continue to appear, and optical fibers are increasingly used in fields such as optical fiber communications and optical fiber sensing. The geometric parameters of the optical fiber end face are important indicators of the optical fiber and will directly affect the transmission characteristics of the optical fiber. The type of optical fiber can be judged by the geometric parameters of the optical fiber end face. Using the transmission phenomenon of audio signals in optical fibers, the basic principles of optical fiber communications are vividly introduced. This experiment focuses on the geometric parameters of the optical fiber end face and learns the basic principles of optical fiber communication. Measuring optical fiber parameters is a basic requirement for engineering personnel and an indispensable part of professional internship and experimental courses for undergraduates majoring in physics and optoelectronics.
